(Studio) 4 years ago, residents of Forest Hills, New York, protested against plans for low-income housing project.
REPORTER: John Chancellor
(Forest Hills, New York) E. side of Forest Hills is middle class and Jewish. 1972 film shown. People protested plans to move in low-income families to area. Stormy hearings and arrests occurred. Govt. builds projects anyway. 2/3 of tenants are white. [WOMAN - says hasn't noticed change in neighborhood.] [MAN - says people seem to be nice.] Some moved out of neighborhood before project opened. Basic character of neighborhood unchanged.
