(Studio) General Motors Corporation and AMC announce layoffs due to Teamster Union strike. Labor Secretary W.J. Usery conts. to mediate between union and industry representatives 1000's of nonunion truck drivers still working.

(Highway 33, Pennsylvania) Robert Hollis owns his own truck; he's independent truck driver. [HOLLIS - can't support Teamsters when they didn't support independents (in their strike 2 years ago).] [HOLLIS - talks on CB radio to another independent about Teamster violence.] Hollis worried re: violence. [HOLLIS - says bothered about taking chances with life, but has to drive.]
