(Studio) Report on motorcycle pollution.

(Los Angeles, California) [Air Resources Bd. Thomas AUSTIN - says if uncontrolled, motorcycles will be responsible for 15% pollution in 1990. 1 California and Environmental Protection Agency want smog controls on cycles by 1978.

(Michigan) Environmental Protection Agency lab tests show car lasts average lifetime of 100,000 mile; 19,900 mi. for large motorcycle and 8600 mile for small bike.

(Los Angeles, California) Av. cycle puts out 4 times as much carbon monoxide as 1 car. 1 cycle puts out 9 times as much hydrocarbon pollution as 1 car. Pollution would be 10-30% higher if everyone rode around on motorcycles.
