(Studio) 2 weeks ago, poisonous fumes leaked from chemical defoliant plant at Seveso, Italy. Woman living in area dies.

(Seveso, Italy) Authorities finally send in troops to seal off 10 acres hardest hit by leakage. 175 ordered to evacuate. 50 cats and small animals died of liver and kidney damage after accident. Plant manager and production chief are under house arrest and charged with criminal negligence. Some residents receive rash from fumes. It took 10 days before clinic was opened. 28 hospitalized; no one died. Geneticists say children affected by fumes may bear deformed children.
