(Studio) Tentative agreement reached between striking California cannery workers and cannerys. Wildcat coal miners' strike spread to 5 states.

(Kanawha City, West Virginia) 400,000 tons coal per day not being mined. Railroad, Chessie System, to lay off 1000 workers by end of week [Coal Operators' Association Ed WILES - notes losses because of strike.] 300 mines closed. Last mo., Cedar Coal Company hired nonunion man to do job requiring union man. Miners walked off jobs; federal court ordered them back. Miners refused. UMW says strike will hurt its members
