(Studio) President Ford suspends government ruling that schools violate sex discrimination law when they hold events for fathers and sons or mothers and daughters.
REPORTER: John Chancellor

(DC) Department of Health, Education and Welfare office of civil rights said it was national policy to forbid use of federal funds in districts which sponsor such segregated activity as father-son event. [Press Secretary Ron NESSEN - says Ford irritated at ruling. He feels such traditions as mother-daughter dinner should be preserved.] Department of Health, Education and Welfare representative John Palomina made ruling. No one in Congress expected to disagree with Ford's decision.
