(Studio) Since 1873, 5 men died trying to cross Atlantic Ocean in balloons. Soviet ship rescued balloonist Karl Thomas after his attempt failed. Ship arrives in Holland.

(Rotterdam, Holland) Thomas' wife of 2 mos. and mother greet him. [THOMAS - says thunderstorms caused balloon to sink lower.] Acting mayor greets Thomas and wife at city hall. Soviet and American representatives also present. [THOMAS - toasts Soviet people and rescue ship.]
