(Studio) President Ford says people want someone more experienced than Jimmy Carter running foreign affairs and names issues on which he'll conduct campaign. John Connally says he detects fear and uncertainty in country re: Carter.

(Vail, Colorado) Ford strategy is to offset liberalism in New York with Vice President Nelson Rockefeller and Carter popularity in Texas and rest of South with John Connally. Ford says Dole won't be hatchet man but both will talk re: Carter's indecisiveness. [CONNALLY - says there's fear with regard to Carter defense policies, and foreign affairs policies.] [FORD - says people want experienced person running foreign policy.] [CONNALLY - says he doesn't believe Ford is loser.]
