(Studio) Reagan delegates vote out subcommittee chairperson Representative Silvio Conte, Ford supporter, and voted in Reagan supporter, Charles Pickering.

(Kansas City) Reporter notes ousting of Conte as chairperson of subcommittee on human rights. Reagan delegate John East got himself changed from domestic task force to 1 on foreign political in order to try to make Panama Canal, detente and South Africa policy major platform issues. Reagan staff says they had nothing to do with changes and behind the scenes both camps are working for party unity. Ford Budget Director James Lynn says country can't afford Carter and his programs. [LYNN - says 6 Carter programs would cost $100 billion more in 1st full year of implementation.] Vice President Nelson Rockefeller speaks on foreign pol. Not known if more conservative Reagan supporters will go along with platform harmony.
