(Studio) Ford and Carter representatives meet to decide details with regard to president debates. 1st will be September 23.
REPORTER: David Brinkley
(DC) Only 2 mtgs. required to set up Ford-Carter debates compared to 22 for Nixon-Kennedy debates. Details of debates noted. Representatives from both sides said neither had given more than the other. Ford comments on agreement. [FORD - says debates are important to get honest comparison between candidates.] Sources say it was privately agreed to hold debates in 1 eastern, 1 western and 2 midwestern cities.
