(Studio) Insecticide residues in California wines being investigated by California health department
REPORTER: David Brinkley

(No location given) Research report says up to 4 times more arsenic in some domestic wines than government allows in drinking water. Tests and results noted. [California health deputy chief chemist Joseph THOM - says doesn't think human could consume enough to have trouble with poison.] Dr. Eric Crecelius also researched arsenic in wine; results higher. [CRECELIUS - quotes findings; says arsenic compound in wine more toxic than others.] Source is insecticides sprayed on plants. [CRECELIUS - says further research needed.] National Institute of Environmental Sciences has scheduled mtg. next month to begin study of whole problem of arsenic poisoning.
