(DC) Inventor and pilot Rod Dennis' theory that barometric altimeter reading was cause of 2 plane crashes in Cincinnati detailed. (Diagram shown.) He was asked to Washington, DC to discuss theory with FAA. [DENNIS - notes FAA's agreement with and reaction to his theory.] FAA's response and that of critics described. (Federal Aviation Administration film shown.) International search for single, worldwide landing system and allegations by British involving FAA's check of computer tests of Brussels, Belgium, airport noted. Tests at Lincoln Lab., near Boston, detailed. [Federal Aviation Administration adminr. Langhorne BOND - notes mistake made in tests by Federal Aviation Administration and says no government agency is perfect.] Comments of government official, and his report with regard to letter on incident sent to international commission to choose international landing system, noted. Has been learned that letter was written by FAA, though it's over signature of State Department official, and in congress testimony, agency told committee that it couldn't say where letter came from. [BOND - notes this was error and has been corrected.] Ramifications of error listed. Eastern Airlines crash in New York City in 1975 noted. (Film shown.)
