(S)Rosalynn Carter arrives in Hawaii, where she lived with husband when he was in Navy; visits some volcanic areas of islands. Volcanic areas could be important to energy for Hawaii.

(Honolulu, Hawaii) Volcanic action underground can provide geothermal energy; federal and state have put money into geothermal well. [Geothermal engineer Bill CHEN - cites possibilities for providing electricity from well.] Experiment, with generator on well to provide electricity, will be put into effect in Hilo. In west US, possibilities for similar development await results of Hawaii tests.
