(Studio) Travis Britt walked 900 mile to shake hands with Jimmy Carter, and neighbors gave trouble about it.
REPORTER: John Chancellor
(DC) Britt walked from Riverdale, MD, to plains, Georgia, last summer because he was impressed with Carter. (Film shown.) Trouble began back at home. [BRITT - cites neighbors and friends adverse reaction to walk.] Britt's son, Travis, Junior was most affected by ridicule; grades dropped. [Travis BRITT, Junior - cites problems at school.] Carter found out about problems and invited Britts to White House Reaction of Britts noted.
