(DC) President Carter made $139,000 in 1975 but paid only $17,000 in fed. income tax. Dep. press secretary Rex Granum says Mr. Carter's tax accountant asked IRS (Internal Revenue Service) to examine Carter's tax records. Later, Press Secretary Jody Powell announces IRS (Internal Revenue Service) asked to audit Carter's tax records. Vice President Walter Mondale confides to ABC reporter Anne Compton that his 1976 return being audited.
