(Cape Canaveral, Florida) President takes cruise on nuclear submarine "Los Angeles" with Admiral Hyman Rickover as guide. [CARTER - cites early association with Rickover and effect on own life.] Rickover was Carter's superior in days with Navy. Is 1st time President and Mrs. Carter have sailed on nuclear sub. Details of cruise noted. On return, Carter talks of trip. [CARTER - describes activities of self and crew during cruise.] Carters leave for Saint Simons Island, Georgia, for wkend.
