(Studio) Chicago school district refuses to graduate those who cannot read.
REPORTER: John Chancellor
(Chicago, Illinois) 8th grade students in a Chicago school not graduated as can't read. Most students and parents agree with decision. [STUDENTS - say it's fair.] [Parents Council president Ellen BARLOW - believes decision correct.] Officials say schools responsible as well as students. [Principal Mary O'CONNOR - won't dodge responsibility, but doesn't know what else could have been done.] Summer classes expected to help some by fall.
