(DC) Lance accuses committee members of violating his human rights. [LANCE - reads statement.] Charles Percy, Abraham Ribicoff singled out by Lance. Senators' call for Lance to resign, following allegations Lance involved in embezzlement, recalled. [LANCE - reads further from statement.] Lance denies back-dating checks to take improper tax deductions. [LANCE - reads statement.] Ribicoff and Percy say visit to President Carter on Labor Day intended as private matter; say White House arranged talk with press. [RIBICOFF - says White House officials said it would be proper for them to see the press.] [PERCY - says White House personnel arranged press meeting] Percy blames press for distortion of remarks with regard to back-dating of checks. [PERCY - regrets way matter handled. i Lance's strong defense noted.

(DC) Truth lies between two versions. White House officials deny notifying press of meeting until reporters began calling to ask about it. Bill Drummond - says reporters called. Network reporter claims he was notified by someone in Percy's staff. Another reporter says he talked with Ribicoff staff mbr., who said Senators would be available after meeting with President White House had tried to keep Senators from seeing press. White House officially announced mtg. before it took place. 9-5-77 film of Percy and Ribicoff meeting press shown. Hamilton Jordan action noted.
