(Studio) President Carter signs new farm bill. (Film shown.) Bill is designed to help farmers in financial trouble.

(Wheatland, Iowa) Don Schneider began process of giving up farming 1 1/2 years ago; his wife got job on assembly line. [SCHNEIDER - hates to see wife working off farm; had told her she'd never have to do it, but she has to.] Mrs. Schneider has to work because of farm debt; they will probably have to give up farm. [SCHNEIDER - is very upset with situation; makes him feel sort of failure, yet circumstances out of his control.] Schneider will likely begin job as traveling salesman next wk.; says Carter farm bill has come too late and isn't enough.
