(Studio) Defense Secretary Melvin Laird says willing to make compromises to overcome Reserve Officers' Training Corps objections, but wouldn't allow Reserve Officers' Training Corps program to be degraded in any way. Assistant Defense Secretary for Manpower, Roger Kelley, outlines Pentagon position. [KELLEY - says Reserve Officers' Training Corps provides civilian academic with military training. If school doesn't want it, should make adjustments.] Kelley notes protest occurs at less than 3% of American's colleges.
