(DC) Film of State Department employees engaged in coordination effort shown. Earlier reports to State Department with regard to physical abuses, etc., of Temple cult members at Jonestown recalled. Of 1200 letters received by State Department, 700 said favorable to Temple cult. Last weeks' film of Jonestown shown. Interviewing of 75 cult members in days preceding debacle reported Positive nature of interviews reported [State Department spokesperson John BUSHNELL - speaks of department action with regard to those concerned.] Americans living around world in religious groups like Temple reported Reluctance of foreign service officers to interfere in matters of religious nature noted. Complexity of situation pointed out.
