(Studio) Importance of Horn of Africa described; its location in relation to Saudi Arabia, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Suez Canal and rest of Mideast noted. Previous US-Ethiopian and Somali-USSR relations and recent changes in these outlined. Ethiopia-Somalia war over Ogaden Desert noted. USSR arms shipments to Ethiopia compared to USSR , Polish, Czech, E. German and Cuban troops in Ethiopia and changes this made in Ogaden war noted. Concerns of US and Saudi Arabia about USSR influence in Ethiopia especially re: rebellions in Eritrea and South Yemen, explained.
