(Studio) Strike by employees of London's Claridge's Hotel reported.
REPORTER: John Chancellor
(London, England) Details given with regard to strike, which began over firing of chef trainee Richard Elvidge. Hotel claims that discharge was due to cooking mistakes and Elvidge's claims that it was because of his union activity stated. [ELVIDGE - states own position in issue.] [Claridge's assistant general manager Michael BENTLEY - says Elvidge was incompetent. Discusses effects of strike on service.] [Striking CHEF - notes fancy meals served in hotel and that workers' salaries mean they have to eat canteen food.] [BENTLEY - says situation shocking because of personal involvement, but with tone of world, why shouldn't this happen to Claridge's as well.]
