(Studio) George Meany criticism of Carter wage increase proposal reported.
REPORTER: John Chancellor
(DC) Meany objection to Carter proposal of lower wage increases in 1978 as anti-inflation move. [MEANY - calls it government control.] Meany stance re: federal pay increases noted; denial that coal wages are inflationary noted. [MEANY - says coal wages still inadequate.] AFL-CIO said having no intention of cooperating with anti-inflation fight.
