(Boulder, Colorado) Details given about solar flares and problems they can cause on earth. Diagram shown. Incidents recently caused by such flares, in Miami with air control contact with planes going to and from South American and Coast Guard loss of contact with ships, at stations from Boston to New Orleans, given as exs. Reports on sun flares in North American Air Defense Command headquarters noted. Scientists' observations of solar flares from observatory in Boulder, Colorado, noted. [Solar scientist Gary HECKMAN - says disruptions due to solar flares will happen regularly for next few years, but can't tell when.] Details of solar study given.
