[Farmer Lamar HARRELL - reports livestk. losses due to ants in 1977.] Use of myrex pesticide and Environmental Protection Agency ruling against its use, due to cancer linkage, noted. Mississippi plans to convert myrex plant into new pesticide, pheryamicide, envtlsts.' objections and resulting court case detailed. [Massachusetts agriculture commissioner Jim ROSS - says there's no alternative; that Agriculture Department has tested many chemicals and no other will do job.]
