(Dallas, Texas) Beginning of discount air fares with Texas International fares in 1976 and growth of discounts among airlines since detailed. television commercials shown. Exs. of people using lower rate fares given. Statistics with regard to Incr. in air travel given. Decr. in 1st class seating to make room for others noted. [MAN - normally travels tourist class, but now it means even more people packed into tighter spaces.] Same service reported given to all travelers on flight; number of ticket combinations on single flight to Houston stated. [PEOPLE - tell fare amts.] Problems involved in price war, for customers and airlines alike, outlined. American Airlines' proposal to end fare war and other airlines' proposals to keep from losing profits made during summer travel season cited. CAB's recent ruling allowing fares to go lower noted.
