(Studio) Congress approval of broader rule-making authority for FTC (Federal Trade Commission) few years ago recalled. FTC's actions in area of consumer protection reported.

[FTC chairperson Michael PERTSCHUK - says agency is concerned with helping consumer fight inflation.] [US Chamber of Commerce lobbyist Jeffrey JOSEPH - says voters are rebelling against government regulatory involvement.] Other proposed regulations by FTC (Federal Trade Commission) listed, with regard to optometrists' ads, funeral and used car inds.
