(Studio) Dvt. of state fairs from livestock and harvest mkts. to big-time entertainment shows noted. This is height of fair season.

(No location given) Background report on contemporary state and county fairs. Though fairs are now big business, country people are still at heart of show and continue to come for same reasons as always. [John TAYLOR - notes those attending meet people from all over state they wouldn't otherwise know and that they're all working people, not professionals.] Drawing crowds as big as stars' appearances are local fiddlers' contests, like 1 in IN won by Arbo Byrd, and all seats are filled for 4-H fashion shows. In other areas, 1 can learn things never known before. [Ralph NIEDLINGER - tells how to wake up world's largest boar.] In Iowa, when it rains at fair, umbrellas are raised over most important performers, animals. There is no sadness when fair is over, for it will be there next year
