(Studio) Truck safety hearing in Atlanta noted. Issue discussed reported to involved federal work rules for longhaul truckers.

(Western Pennsylvania) Situation of trucker Bill Besser and family because of his job noted. Besser's night driving described. [BESSER - says job is hard on him and on wife, who gets all burdens.] [Marie BESSER - knows husband feels bad about not being at home to help, but has to make a living. Describes concerns about Besser's driving at night.] [BESSER - says tired driver is always dangerous. Will pull over if he gets sleepy.] Refusal of some tired drivers to pull over stated. Govt. consideration of rule changes because of this danger reported; changes considered said to be 1st in 40 years present rules outlined. [BESSER - says it's too late for him to think about another job.] Federal authorities predictions that it may be years before rules are changed cited. Akron, Ohio, mentioned.
