(No location given) Thanksgiving celebrations noted include: Macy's parade in New York City that marks beginning of Christmas shopping season with Santa Claus' appearance; Hudson's Department Store parade in Detroit, in which float designed by 10-yr.-old William Bowden won top prize; Covington, Kentucky's, 69th Annual Elk's Lodge Road Race, 2nd only to Boston Marathon in age and won by Tom Bloomer, which goes from Covington to Cincinnati, Ohio; and fellowship dinner cooked and eaten by residents of Sterling, Kansas.
