(DC) Senator Robert Dole's call for Senator check into allegations that Panama's Omar Torrijos is involved in drug trafficking noted. Audio tape played. [DOLE - thinks Carter administration owes such investigation to US public and to Senator] Senator reactions described. [Jacob JAVITS - says Senator must keep eye on treaty and best interests of American, not on whether or not Torrijos is involved in drug traffic.] [DEA spokesperson Peter BENSINGER - cites sporadic allegations with regard to Torrijos' family and drugs, but not against Torrijos himself.] Documents held by some Senators with regard to these charges outlined. Upcoming Senator break noted.
