(Studio) President Reagan reported announcing Mideast trip of Secretary of State George Shultz and backing off on insistence that PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) be involved in Mideast peace negotiations.

[Last week, SHULTZ - considers need for quiet diplomacy.] National security adviser William Clark's push for Shultz mission mentioned. [REAGAN - suggests PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) need not be involved in peace negotiations.]
