(Studio) No. of airline pilots in US, percentage nearing retirement age and incr. in number of women pilots stated.
REPORTER: Tom Jarriel

(Dallas, Texas) Amelia Earhart's into. of women in realm of airplane pilots noted; films shown. Slow growth of women's status in commercial aviation since that time reported Jill Brown's background in becoming commercial pilot for Texas International Airlines given. [BROWN - anticipates some pressure from male pilots and thinks all women at company do.] Is stated that 50 women now at controls of scheduled United States air carriers. [Flight operations director Bob LEMON - doesn't think there's stigma attached to women and says they'll do as well as men.] [Flight ATTENDANT - announces Lemon as pilot of plane, Marcy Bishop as copilot.] Is noted that Brown, Bishop and others don't campaign for ERA, but say they're interested in flying and professionalism.
