(Studio) President Carter's comment on stock market rise reported; film shown. [CARTER - thinks market activity indicates willingness to fight inflation, esp. with Congress apparently ready to act on energy legislature]

(DC) Federal Reserve chairperson G. William Miller's testimony to Senator Banking Committee, in disagreement with Carter over timing of tax cut, detailed. [Senator William PROXMIRE - asks if Miller thinks delay in tax cut would significantly affect inflation.] [MILLER - cites reasons for thinking delay could be helpful.] Question to President with regard to tax cut stated. [CARTER - says proposed cut won't be inflationary and hopes Congress will enact legislature to make cut available by October 1.] Carter and Miller's agreement on need for anti-inflation measures outlined.
