(Studio) Report introduced
REPORTER: Connie Chung

(DC) United States intelligence said believing hostage William Buckley was killed by Islamic Jihad captors at least 2 months ago and not this week as organization claims; Islamic Jihad recalled announcing his execution recently in retaliation for Israeli air raid on PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) base in Tunisia. Factors indicating probability that his body will not turn up explained; hostage Benjamin Weir, recently released, recalled noting he had contact with other American hostages with exception of Buckley and Peter Kilburn. Officials said suspecting Kilburn disappeared under other circumstances and was never kidnapped. Buckley's experience during captivity reviewed; compared to that of other hostages.
