(Studio) President Reagan's official response to Mikhail Gorbachev's arms control proposals said due next week.

(DC) Soviet proposal, initially given Reagan by foreign minister Eduard Shevardnadze last week, examined; White House response at that time reviewed. [Wednesday, Representative Robert MICHEL - notes national security adviser Robert McFarlane's praise of dialogue.] Specific aspects of proposal listed, discussed; assistant defense secretary Richard Perle noted meeting with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) allies this weekend.
