(Studio) Pentagon's 1st public test of cruise missile reported; USSR objections to device and United States armed services support of it described.

(White Sands, NM) Details of cruise flight at White Sands Missile Range given; earlier Defense Department film shown. Department invitations to newsmen to cover test and Secretary Brown's statements about it noted. [BROWN - hopes that by this publicity, American public will see capabilities of US technology and military forces.] Washington, DC critics' opinions that public cruise test indicates administration plans to eliminate IBCM program, bringing more dependence on cruise, and that United States military has underestimated Soviet strength stated.
