(Studio) House Judiciary Committee debate over extension of deadline for ERA ratification reported.
REPORTER: Frank Reynolds

(DC) [Committee chairperson Peter RODINO - says committee won't duck tough issues.] Pressure on committee compared to that during Watergate. Positions of ERA supporters and opponents with regard to extension stated. [Representative Barbara JORDAN - says committee has authority to extend deadline.] [Representative Sam. HALL - says women's rights are secondary to amending rights under Constitution.] [Representative Elizabeth HOLTZMAN - equates issue with denial of human rights.] Possible vote to send extension to House floor noted. House and Senator attitudes reported.
