(Persian Gulf: Martin Fletcher) Kuwait television video of attacked tanker shown. Tankers said safe in international waters. [Injured CREWMAN - says he just heard a big bang.] Silkworm missile believed fired from Iranian mainland. [Iranian president Ali KHAMENEI - says at prayer meeting that United States cannot protect ships and warns that Iran will stop aggression only when Iraq stops attacks.] Tension in Persian Gulf as all sides wait for United States response to attack noted. NBC helicopter said fired upon by Iranian warship; details given, scenes shown. United States retaliation to attack said likely.
