(London, England: Stephen Frazier) Scenes shown of British Prime Min. Margaret Thatcher inspecting damage from fire in King's Cross subway station Cause of fire discussed. [COMMUTER - describes what he saw during fire.] Subway employees reported mistakenly sending people into fire instead of out of it. Depth of British subway system noted causing escape problems; scenes shown. [Safety consultant Jonathan ROBERTS - says he wrote a report years ago calling the system a firetrap and nothing was done.] [London Regional Trans. Dr. Tony RIDLEY - says his department did respond to report] No smoke detectors, alarm bells or practice disaster drills reported being implemented. Paris, France, Metro system and safety operations featured; details given, scenes shown. Parliament noted investigating whether or not situation was criminal neglect.
