(Studio) President Carter's vacation in Wyoming mentioned. Confusion over natural gas pricing compromise bill, due to Carter's understanding with Senator James McClure, reported.
REPORTER: Frank Reynolds

(DC) McClure's agreement with Carter about nuclear breeder reactor in ID stated. [McCLURE - has no reason to believe Carter will change mind about agreement.] Carter's telephone call to Senator Dale Bumpers, from Wyoming vacation spot, noted. [BUMPERS - says Carter reported misunderstanding between White House and McClure. Told President there would have to be resolution to problem before he'd support natural gas bill.] Energy Secretary James Schlesinger's comments outlined. [SCHLESINGER - would have moved ahead on breeder reactor arrangements regardless of natural gas compromise.] Opposition to bill from Senators Russell Long and Lloyd Bentsen and from UAW (United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America) and AFL-CIO reported.
