(Chicago, Illinois) Picketing at Louisville train yard of L&N railroad noted. Court orders won by most RR's to limit picketing reported Details about strike by Brother- hood of Railway and Airline Clerks against Norfolk and Western, nation's 2nd biggest coal hauler, given. Not affected by strike are Conrail and Amtrak in northe.; effects of strike on commuters in Chicago outlined. Effects on freight shipments from Los Angeles freight yards of Union Pacific and Santa Fe described. Other areas of concern with regard to shipments reported in agriculture areas near Des Moines, Iowa, and at General Motors Corporation assembly plant in Saint Louis. Concerns about coal shipments of Chicago Commonwealth Edison cited.
