(DC: Andrea Mitchell) Representative Newt Gingrich, leader of ethics attack upon Representative Jim Wright, reported under fire for his own book deal. [GINGRICH - defends his book deal.] Gingrich's book deal compared to that of Wright. [Representative Bill ALEXANDER - says Gingrich's investors were interest in legislature] [GINGRICH - defends himself and his wife's role in operation.] Mrs. Gingrich noted leaving news conf.

(Studio: Tom Brokaw) Ethics Committee reported delaying Wright's investigation of questionable oil deal. Reporter Andrea Mitchell reported ascertaining that Morris and Doug. Jaffe refused to respond to Committee's subpoena.
