(Studio) This week noted to be 100th anniversary of Woolworth's stores.
REPORTER: Max Robinson

(No location given) History of F.W. Woolworth and Company "dime stores" given. Photos and films shown. Frank Winfield Woolworth's opening of 1st store in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, success of retail chain, construction of Woolworth Building and its survival through Great Depression noted. Falling off of sales at dime stores after World War II reported and reasons given. Problems now facing Woolworth Company, which has Woolco discount chain as well as subsidiaries made up of Kinney Shoes, Susie's Casuals, Richman Brothers and Foot Locker stores, detailed.
