(Studio: Tom Brokaw) Democratic presidential candidate Senator Tom Harkin's victory in the Iowa caucuses reported. Report introduced.

(Washington: Andrea Mitchell) Harkin featured; scenes shown of him campaigning; his liberal political platform noted. [HARKIN - says "they deserve to get hell," he's the only real Democrat in the race, President Bush's conservative platform is "bullshit."] Photos shown of Harkin as a boy and as a Navy pilot; his humble beginnings and his parents' deaths recalled. [HARKIN - says he started at the bottom; talks about his brother and candidate Governor Bill Clinton; adds that he's a leader, not an accountant.] [Harkin's deaf BROTHER - cheers for Harkin.]
