(Studio) Martina Navratilova victory over Tracy Austin to win Avon Women's Indoor Tennis Championship reported, and tape shown courtesy of NBC sports. Lanny Wadkins winning of Tournament of Players professional golf tournament cited Reports with regard to World Boxing Council welterweight champion Wilfredo Benitez's defeat of Harold Wiston in San Juan, PR; and Old Dominion's defeat of Louisiana Tech. to win women's collegiate basketball championship given. Announced that Ray Meyer was named coach of year by National Association of Basketball Coaches. Tape of DePaul practice session and their loss to Indiana State shown. [MEYER - wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for coaching.] Noted that Meyer has been voted into Basketball Hall of Fame. Rumor that Larry Brown will replace Gary Cunningham as University of California at Los Angeles basketball coach mentioned.
