(New York: Robert Bazell) CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommendations on the intake of common vitamin folic acid by all women of childbearing age examined. [Mother of daughter with spina bifida, Liz FALLON - comments.] [CDC (Centers for Disease Control) Dr. Godfrey OAKLEY - says evidence indicates folic acid will reduce cases of spina bifida and anencephaly.] Danger that taking too much folic acid will lead to pernicious anemia noted. [FDA (Food and Drug Administration) commissioner David KESSLER - comments.]
