(Detroit: Mike Boettcher) Announcement by General Motors Corporation that it will sue NBC News over a report critical of its pickup trucks featured; "Dateline NBC" report on pickup trucks with side-mounted gas tanks reviewed; NBC crash demonstrations shown. [GM executive vice president Harry PEARCE - attacks NBC's sensationalism.] Using photographs of the test, Pearce shows the use of sparking devices. Letter and press release in response from NBC president Michael Gartner to General Motors Corporation quoted. Juror verdict last Thursday awarding millions to the family of a son killed when his pickup truck caught fire after a collision noted.
