(New York: Stan Bernard) The historic deal to be signed between the tobacco industry and the states reviewed; details given of tenets of the agreement. [Three SMOKERS - comment on cigarettes and their cost.] The ongoing class action lawsuit in Florida against the tobacco industry noted. [Washington attorney general Christine GREGOIRE - says the deal is about saving lives.] [Philip Morris vice president Steve PARRISH - comments.] The hope held by anti-smoking forces that Congress will give the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) a role in controlling cigarettes noted.
